The Illz - "Dreams of Life & Beth"

Along with being a big fan of music, I'm kind of a movie buff, too.  I have an affinity for good cinematography.  This clip below from the Illz out of Jersey gives me some good music and some great photographic work from director Kristopher Rey-Talley.  Let me know what you think.  Shouts to Vimeo for the link.

Ms Hill - "Repercussions"

The link below is a track that's surfaced online recently from the one and only, Lauryn Hill.  Its a cool little song.  We need more of her.  I hope this means she'll be putting something out soon!  Shout out to http://www.okayplayer.com/ for the link!

Greg Nice Talks about 2Pac & DJ Premier

Greg Nice Talks about 2Pac & DJ Premier

This is an interesting article with Greg Nice speaking on his relationship with 2 Pac.  Seems like an odd pairing, but I'm sure they put out some heat.

Video: Ski Beatz feat. Mos Def – Cream Of The Planet

Ski is really doing his thing right about now. Check the link for his latest featuring Mos Def.  24 Hour Karate School is his recently delayed project which looks like a "must-cop" for me right about now. Dame Dash's Creative Control is looking like what we all thought Rawkus Records was back in the late 90s. At any rate, Mos goes in as usual and Ski's sample evokes emotion. He's got a knack for that (See Reasonable Doubt).

Swoope ~ Pull Ya Pants Up (Belt of Truth)

My good friend Alisha put me up on this dude. He's hitting on all cylinders, IMO.  Dope beats, witty lines, AND positive messages.  Can't argue with that.  Check it.

How I Got Over

On June 22, 2010, the Roots gift to us “How I Got Over”.  This is album number 11. They give us another nice addition to their discography. The gems include “The Day”, "Fire", “How I Got Over”, “Radio Daize”, and “Web 2.0”. Again, the Roots push the envelope and give us an album that is undeniably hip hop, but one that does stretch out to other genres of music. No, not in a forceful way either. Its subtle and well crafted. Instead of screaming out “Hey, we’re influenced by good music of all genres!”, its, “Hey, this is us and good music from all genres help shape us as a group!”. (Yes, both of those statements should be yelled at the top of the lungs.) This is not a classic Roots album by any stretch, but its definitely a nice addition to their already legendary catalog.  Below's a copy of the Pitchfork review of the album.  They seem to like it, too.

If you're anything like me, you search the net for another heater by Jay Electronica siting. (He just won't drop an album!!). Anyway, there was a siting today. Found this on http://www.hiphopgame.com/ and its an interesting pairing with Paul Wall, Raekwon, and Yelawolf. I can dig it though.
